Abudi is our CEO and co-founder. He specializes in energy market pricing, information product development and fundamental analysis. He most recently led efforts at Genscape to create new information products based on the company’s proprietary energy data. Prior to joining Genscape he worked in the energy information industry in Tokyo, Singapore, London, Houston and New York. He has held management positions in editorial, product development, marketing, sales and general management. He was CEO for Argus Media, Inc, a Senior Vice President at Oxford Analytica, and Sales Director at Platts London. Abudi holds a master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Hanover in Germany and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Simon is a co-founding partner and investor in ClipperData. He co-founded Caminus Corporation, a provider of energy trading and risk management software and consulting services, where he designed and delivered high-performance trading platforms for first-tier energy traders in New York, Houston, London and across continental Europe. He and his partners took Caminus public in 2000 (NASDAQ: CAMZ) and the company was subsequently acquired by SunGard Data Systems in 2003. Simon holds an A.B. in English Language and Literature from Harvard.
Sterling is our Executive Chairman. He is an entrepreneur and angel investor with a focus on information services, energy, and risk management, but with wide-ranging interests across most areas of science and technology. He currently serves as an advisor and board member to multiple early-stage businesses. Most recently Sterling was a co-founder of Genscape, Inc., the world’s leading provider of real-time energy information. Sterling created and managed the technology and intellectual property core of the business, and is a named inventor on more than a dozen domestic and foreign patents. In addition to being named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003, Sterling helped Genscape place on the Inc. 500 list of the country’s fastest-growing companies in 2004 and 2005. In 2006 Sterling and his partners sold Genscape to the Daily Mail & General Trust (LSE: DMGT). Prior to founding Genscape, Sterling worked in various capacities in trading and risk management, starting in fixed income and moving to energy and commodities. Sterling holds a B.S. in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Kim is the Director of Operations for ClipperData. She has over 12 years’ experience in information and data publishing, specializing in energy markets. Her focus is on streamlining internal workflow processes, integrating new standards and technologies, and new product development. After an initial career as an intelligence analyst, Kim loves to figure out the answers to impossible questions. Prior to joining ClipperData, she worked for eight years at Genscape as Global Director for Oil Operations. There she led efforts that tripled their proprietary data oil product offerings to cover the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Based out of Boulder, Colorado, you can normally find her out hiking or rock climbing most weekends.
Tong (Steve) Shao
Steve is the manager of the quantitative analysis group at ClipperData. He and his team build fundamental models that are used to track the global flows of liquid hydrocarbons. He also develops statistical models that are embedded in many of our products. Steve holds a B.A. in Economics from Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and an M.A. in Statistics from Columbia University.
Matt is a Director of Commodity Research at ClipperData. Matt specializes in extracting key themes from technical and fundamental analysis of the global energy market, and communicating these through daily and weekly deliverables. He also provides oil and natural gas analysis and commentary to national and international media outlets that include CNBC, Fox Business, Russia 24, the Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, AFP, Bloomberg, Reuters, and the Oil Daily. Prior to joining ClipperData, he worked for eight years at Schneider Electric / Summit Energy as a Global Commodity Analyst, where he also founded and authored the blog, Energy Burrito. He started his career at the Royal Bank of Canada in the UK, spending eight years with the bank. During that time, he managed $55 million in assets as a portfolio manager and financial analyst.
Roy is our Chief Technology Officer. Roy has over ten years of experience in product development and infrastructure management. Prior to joining ClipperData, Roy played a pivotal role in developing a number of key energy-related products at Genscape. Roy holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University Of Kentucky and a certification in Executive Leadership from Cornell University.
Rae is our Client Relationship Manager and serves as the first line of contact for all client questions and inquiries. Rae has over 6 years of analytical experience in the energy industry. Prior to ClipperData, she was a business development planner and analyst at ENI Petroleum and BG Group. She started her career as a controlling accountant at Schlumberger. Rae holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas Tech University.
Austin is a QA Analyst at ClipperData. He is primarily responsible for data loading and cleanup. Prior to ClipperData, Austin was an account manager at numberGo, a unique data aggregation and analysis platform. Austin holds a B.S. in Computer Science from St. Lawrence University.
Ananya is a Data Engineer at ClipperData, with a focus on interpreting and normalizing disparate data sources. She holds M.S. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and B.E. in Electrical Engineering Dibrugarh University, India. She worked with companies like Siemens and Schneider Electric prior to joining ClipperData.
Poorva is a Data Specialist at ClipperData. Her main role is software development, using a variety of programming languages to extract, transform and load data. Prior to working at ClipperData, Poorva worked with KPIT Cummins in India as a Senior Software Developer. Poorva holds B.S. in Computer Science from University of Pune, India and M.S. in Computer Science from East Carolina University.
Alex is a QA Analyst at ClipperData. He is primarily responsible for data review. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Alan Eixman is our Director of Sales and oversees our Houston office. Alan has over thirteen years of energy industry experience in market data and software. He most recently held the position of Sales Manager for DTN ProphetX where he provided energy traders with tools for real-time news and pricing data analysis. Prior to joining DTN Alan worked in the energy information industry selling real-time proprietary news, pricing, and market data. He was a Business Development Manager for Platts, a division of McGraw-Hill, and Territory Sales Manager for Genscape. Alan holds a B.F.A. in Media Management/Marketing from Sam Houston State University.
Angela Garzon is a Sales Director with a focus on Petrochemicals & Base Oils. She brings to ClipperData over 25 years in B2B relationship management with major global multinational companies. Most recently spent over a decade working at ICIS, a division of Reed Business Information, part of RELX Group responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with the largest global oil, energy, and petrochemical companies. Her work experience also expands to the areas of corporate finance, management consulting, and exposition services having worked at Hannover Fairs USA, Inc., the American subsidiary of Hannover, Germany’s Deutsche Messe AG; EY Corporate Finance Division in NY and Washington D.C - a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services; and Socimer International Corporation - a Spanish-owned boutique investment bank specializing in direct investments in equity and convertible securities. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Social Work) from Iona College, New Rochelle, NY.
Dan is Chief Editor at ClipperData. He specializes in upstream and daily movements in the price of crude. Before joining ClipperData, Dan served for more than a decade as the lead energy correspondent for United Press International and served a brief stint in news radio. Apart from energy markets, Dan teaches international relations theory at Grand Valley State University and has a deep academic background in communications theory. He is also the lead developer of The GERM Report, a weekly column that assesses the intersection of geopolitical issues and the price of oil. He has a M.A. in IR Theory from Norwich University.
John is a Data Analyst at ClipperData. He is focused on analyzing our data and providing quality assurance for US export products. Prior to joining ClipperData, he spent five years in the telecommunication and nuclear industries. John holds duo B.S. degrees in Computer and Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Yuwen is a Data Analyst at ClipperData. He specializes in analyzing domestic crude flows, as well as providing quality assurance. He also manages a team of interns. Yuwen holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Qingdao Technological University in China, and a M.S. in Financial Engineering from NYU.
Josh is an Oil Market Analyst at ClipperData. He is primarily responsible for analyzing data and trends in the global fuel oil and feedstock marketplaces. He is also a contributor to ClipperData’s monthly Fuel Oil & Feedstock Trader publication. Josh holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from American University, where he specialized in Energy and Environmental policy. He also spent time researching international energy markets during his time studying at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. Josh holds a Bachelors in Political Science from American University.
Joe MillsJoe is our Commercial Director for Europe, based out of London. Before ClipperData, Joe worked at Genscape, growing the European customer base selling to core utility and financial players across the UK and the Continent. His product focus was in oil, power and gas and he sold analytical solutions, reports and data, growing the business to new client segments and geographies. Prior to that Joe led sales teams at Thomson Reuters, latterly servicing banks in London, Israel and Ireland after leading the inter-dealer broker team. Joe has also worked across Europe at Bloomberg selling terminals to both mature and emerging Europe. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire.
Tom is an Oil Market Analyst at ClipperData. He specializes in the natural gas liquids markets, with a focus on fundamental analysis communicated through our weekly deliverables. Prior to joining ClipperData, he worked for four years at S&P Global Market Intelligence as a NGL Reporter, and for six years at MF Global as a Crude Oil and Precious Metals Analyst providing market analysis and price outlooks. He started his career at Refco Inc. as a technical analyst, spending 12 years with the firm. He earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Ptah is a Data Analyst at ClipperData. He specializes in end-user product development and maintenance. With a background in data analysis and computer programming, he has previously held data specialist and systems manager positions. He has been in the energy research and consulting industry for 4 years, working as a commodity analyst in oil and natural gas for both Schneider Electric and Ingersoll Rand. In his prior roles he has specialized in crude oil and products, natural gas and LNG, and global carbon markets, serving as executive editor and publisher of research reports. Troy has a unique background in economic policy research, working and studying at both the Charles Koch Institute and Ludwig von Mises Institute, and prides himself on an in depth understanding of economics and monetary policy which helps guide his analysis deeper than basic supply and demand fundamentals. Kaleem looks after LNG analytics product development and analysis. Kaleem has extensive experience in downstream oil & gas with focus on LNG, petrochemical & polymer trade and analytics. He was involved in LNG import infrastructure development in South Asia, with a focus on international trade, LNG origination and gas marketing. Kaleem holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, Pakistan. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
